The Work of the Flesh v. The Fruit of the Spirit Part II

Spiritual growth isn’t automatic- it’s intentional. As believers, we must move beyond passive faith and into an active spiritual relationship with God, where He becomes our daily fuel. God can do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, but that power works in us only when we are rooted in His Word. We must consistently expose ourselves to Scripture throughout the week- not just on Sundays- so that worship becomes an overflow of what God is already doing in us. As Pastor Will declared, “Give God something to work with!” We can’t pour from an empty cup; and we can’t help others spiritually if we don’t have anything to pour out.

By living in the Word, we allow the Spirit to bear fruit in us, overcoming the works of the flesh- not by striving harder by ourselves, but by surrendering to God's power already at work within us.
