Our Identity

What areas of your life do you need to challenge yourself to live out on purpose? This week kicks off a new sermon series On Purpose. It’s one thing to say you are going All In for Jesus; but when we talk about being On Purpose, it’s doing the things you know you should do, even when you don’t want to. God nudges us; and when He questions, it’s not because he doesn’t know the answer. He wants us to address it! Sometimes, we are challenged to commit to do things on purpose because we are uncertain about our identity.

As we begin this series looking at Our Identity, we focus on Genesis 27, and the story of Jacob. Jacob deceived his father with the help of his mother to receive a blessing that wasn’t his. Likewise, we are cautioned about the people we associate with dragging us down. Just as Jacob sold his birthright in a moment of weak flesh, we are reminded to be careful what we walk away from in order to receive momentary satisfaction.
