Genesis 27:31-41; Proverbs 18:2
Our Identity Part II

This week, Pastor Will speaks on the power of words spoken- and thoughts unspoken- as we continue the story of Esau and Jacob in Genesis 27. Moments after Issac gave away Esau’s first-born blessing to his younger brother, Jacob, Esau cried out to his father, not once, but twice. But why did Esau cry out? Was it because he wanted the material blessing, or was it the misalignment with who he was born to be (the first-born)? Like Esau, we often find ourselves crying out to God for material blessings instead of crying out for the alignment with His Will and Purpose for our lives.

Issac did not bless Esau. Esau became bitter, angry, and full of hatred towards his brother; and decided that he would one day kill Jacob. Is there something that happened to you in your life that you are allowing the anger and hatred inside to consume you? Like Issac’s prophetic statement to Esau, sometimes it’s less about what’s happening around us, and more about our own hands (thoughts, anger, bitterness) that hold us back from living out God’s Purpose for our lives.

As we continue looking at what it means to live On Purpose, we are challenged to look in our own hearts and address things on purpose that are limiting our ability to walk in our purpose. Continue seeking God’s Will for our lives- instead of our own.
