Is there something bothering us, but we are refusing to let it go? This week, we continue the story of Jacob in Genesis 32. Fearing his brother, Jacob sends all that he has as gifts to meet Esau prior to his arrival. Out of options and separated from all the earthly distractions and belongings, Jacob is finally left alone with his problem that had taken a stronghold over his life. A Man (a manifestation of God) came and wrestled with Jacob all night, as Jacob battled spiritually against letting go.
Like Jacob, we can find ourselves wrestling to let go of something and we keep putting it off. God is saying to let it go today. Don’t wait, because the battle you are going through may not be of the flesh. The enemy often uses something basic you are going through in your life to cause a stronghold on your life, to the point you are afraid to move, believe, or speak. Ask yourself, “Is there is spiritual battle going on?”
As we continue to grow closer to God On Purpose, don’t be surprised if the enemy tries to stop your life in God from overflowing into the life of someone else. Once we realize that this war is beyond our natural ability, we are able to advance the battlefield with God by our side. We are urged to read the Word, pray for renewal of our mind and transformation from the inside, so that we may be equipped for the battles ahead.
