Sometimes it’s not the enemy that is stopping us from a deeper relationship with God; it’s us! It is our own mindset, stuff we were taught, our dispositions and attitude. Sometimes the greatest argument is within our own mind. This week, we continue in 2 Corinthians where Paul talks about the constant spiritual battle we have as believers, often with ourselves. As humans, we are created as spirit, mind and flesh. The enemy’s goal is to get us living in the flesh- instead of living spiritually- where physically our mind, desires, emotions are all over the place and we cannot hear God speak to us. Instead, we must discipline our flesh according to the Word of God and remember that God loves us.
Your purpose is already within your spirit, but you must teach your mind and body what that is, by reading the Word, going to church, and drawing nearer to God through prayer. The more you expose yourself, the more your mind and flesh get in line with your spirit. Pray this week that we can get our own flesh and mind under control.
